The 102 KB limit is the size of your HTML code (inline CSS, text, base64 data — not externally hosted images). This tool measures the HTML you paste and estimates savings from removing comments, collapsing whitespace, and externalising base64 images. Estimates are close but not byte-identical to Gmail; aim under 90 KB for margin. Scripts are not executed and nothing is uploaded.
